The CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (CIHR-IMHA) is now accepting applications for its Planning and Dissemination Grants, Winter 2026. These grants provide support for planning and dissemination activities that align with CIHR-IMHA’s mandate to enhance active living, mobility, and musculoskeletal health.

This opportunity focuses on six key priority areas:

  • Indigenous Health Research: Supporting Indigenous-led research and participation within Indigenous communities.
  • Patient Engagement: Understanding patient research priorities and incorporating patient-oriented research principles.
  • Digital Health: Advancing research in digital health technologies such as smart devices, wearables, remote monitoring, virtual appointments, and clinical applications of AI and machine learning.
  • Open Science: Promoting open science principles in planning and dissemination activities.
  • Pain: Advancing research in pain.
  • General CIHR-IMHA Mandate: Ethical, impactful research addressing bones, joints, muscles, connective tissue, skin, teeth, and overall mobility.

  • Competition opened: September 19, 2025
  • Application deadline: November 13, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. ET
  • Notice of decision: March 31, 2026
  • Funding start: April 1, 2026
  • Total funds availabl:e $120,000 (approximately 6 grants)
  • Maximum per grant: $20,000 for up to 1 year
  • Minimum grants per priority area: 1

Specific Requirements

  • Recurring events (e.g., annual conferences, meetings) are not eligible.
  • Grants must be held in Canada, though events or activities can take place inside or outside Canada.
  • Applications must explicitly demonstrate alignment with The IMHA mandate and The chosen priority area in the activity description and relevance form.
