Prof. Antonio Toscano | University of Messina, Italy.

Prof. Antonio Toscano, M.D. (Messina, Italy, 16/12/1956) is Full Professor of Neurology at the University of Messina, Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, and Director of the Regional Reference Center for Rare Neuromuscular Disorders at AOU Policlinico “G. Martino”. After graduating in Medicine (1981) and specializing in Neurology (1985), he trained as Post-doctoral Fellow in London at the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases and St. Bartholomew’s Medical College, focusing on mitochondrial disorders. His scientific work is dedicated to neurogenetic diseases, with expertise in metabolic and genetic myopathies, mitochondrial disorders, peripheral neuropathies, and neurodegenerative diseases. Prof. Toscano has held leading roles in national and international societies (including AIM President, EAN Scientific Committee, and Chairman of the EAN Muscle Disorders Panel) and serves on several editorial boards. He is the author of more than 160 publications in indexed journals.
