The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) is now accepting applications for its 2026 Pilot Grants RFA. This one-year award supports researchers advancing basic, translational, or clinical research in myotonic dystrophy (DM), with a focus on treatment, care, and therapeutic development.

  • Pathogenesis
  • Molecular basis underlying phenotype differences (Type 1, 2, congenital)
  • Development of diagnostics and biomarkers
  • Progression/natural history
  • Identification and validation of drug treatment endpoints
  • Standards of care and care integration, including nursing, social work, and
    psychology
  • Epidemiology, economics, and support services
  • Therapeutic development, particularly, but not limited to, early-stage projects
    where success can leverage larger investments

  • Date Issued: January 12, 2026
  • Proposals Due: March 20, 2026 , 5PM PT
  • Selection Notification: by June 22, 2026
  • Period of Award: August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027
