Speaker: Prof. Hanns Lochmüller | NMD4C Steering Committee Chair | Department of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa.

Prof. Dr. Hanns Lochmüller, MD, FAAN, is a world-renowned clinician-scientist specializing in neuromuscular disorders. His research focuses on uncovering the genetic causes of these diseases, understanding their molecular mechanisms, and developing targeted therapies through an integrated approach combining genomics, molecular biology, disease modeling, and clinical trials

He has led major international research and networking initiatives, including EuroBioBank, the TREAT-NMD Alliance, RD-Connect, and the IRDiRC interdisciplinary science committee. Within the European Reference Network for Neuromuscular Diseases (EURO-NMD), he heads the Research Working Group and co-leads the Clinical Group on Neuromuscular Junction Disorders.

Dr. Lochmüller is Professor of Neurology at the University of Freiburg (Germany) and at the CHEO Research Institute in Ottawa (Canada). He is also founding co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neuromuscular Diseases and serves on numerous international advisory and oversight boards.

He has published over 450 peer-reviewed articles and continues to mentor students and researchers interested in advancing neuromuscular science.
