We’re thrilled to have Dr. Rana Halloun, Pediatric Endocrinologist working at CHEO, chairing this session, where she’ll present and discuss GLP-1 agonists in NMD.

The objectives of the presentation are as following:

• Review the mechanism of action and anticipated benefits of GLP-1 receptor agonists, and explore their potential role in the management of obesity in individuals with neuromuscular disorders, including insights from published case studies.
• Discuss potential adverse effects, particularly gastrointestinal symptoms, and outline strategies to mitigate these risks in clinical practice.
• Examine current evidence on the effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists on lean mass and bone health.
