International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day 2022 to Take Place September 15th

The NMD4C alongside Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) are proud to be members of a global alliance of over 50 myotonic dystrophy-focused organizations who have once again united to celebrate Myotonic Dystrophy Families Day this past July 23rd, and International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day on September 15th, 2022.

In addition to the Alliance’s core mission of raising myotonic dystrophy awareness among the general population, many members of the Global Alliance for Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness are also leading efforts in two specific areas of focus to maximize our impact in 2022:

1. Awareness and education among clinical care teams,
2. Clinical trial readiness for participants.

New CIHR-funded Burden of Inherited Neuromuscular Disease (BIND) Study: Assessing the Indirect Socio-Economic Burden of Inherited Neuromuscular Diseases

The BIND study’s goal is to assess the social and economic burden of Canadians living with neuromuscular disorders by using web-based surveys to assess quality-of-life, healthcare resource use, work productivity, and effect on schooling and careers.

Muscular Dystrophy Canada, Canadian Neuromuscular Disease Registry, NMD4C partner to ensure Canadians can access Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) cure(s)

MDC and the CNDR are working together with NMD4C to introduce a patient registry and collect information to build a Canada-wide core dataset for FSHD.
