Biography
Dr. Clémence Leger is a postdoctoral researcher at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), working at the interface of skeletal muscle physiology and neuroscience. Her research focuses on the muscle–brain axis and on understanding how muscle-derived signals and systemic alterations influence brain function in both physiological and pathological conditions.
During her PhD, she investigated the effects of exercise on cognitive function and the molecular mechanisms underlying exercise-induced brain plasticity, with a particular focus on myokines such as irisin and BDNF-related signaling. Her current postdoctoral research, conducted under the co-supervision of Professors Leduc-Gaudet and Fisette, explores brain alterations associated with neuromuscular and metabolic diseases, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy, while integrating different experimental models and organ systems.
