Cross-Cutting Network Themes
We have established five cross-cutting themes to ensure that core concepts are embedded in all network activities.
Early-Career Support
We will ensure that the next generation of NMD scientists and clinicians are engaged in all network activities. In addition to the training activities described in each pillar, we will provide leadership and training opportunities to early-career researchers and clinicians.
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Social Justice (IDEAS)
The NMD4C IDEAS / EDII team will strengthen Indigenous health research, reduce health equity gaps through research and education through inclusion in ongoing network initiatives as well as additional projects identified by our community of persons with lived experience.Ā
Expert Patient Capacity Building
Together with MDC and patient-partners, we work towards building expert patient capacity in the Canadian neuromuscular community. Our work includes producing the patient-oriented research training platform (imPORNTD) for patients and research teams, and the development of a patient-oriented research resources database.
Knowledge Translation and Impact Assessment
We will develop a knowledge translationĀ plan and resources to transfer network outputs to NMD clinics, engaging healthcare providers and researchers through workshops, working groups, communities of practice, and social media, and empowering researchers with tools and training towards evaluating their engagement activities and reporting on their research impact.Ā
Open Science
Collaboration and data sharing in cutting-edge research areĀ an essential componentĀ to share expertise and grow research data and sample availability. NMD4C applicants who areĀ international leaders in establishing data sharing infrastructure and global open-science initiatives will support this theme across all our activities.
