Standard Operating Procedures

Standard operating procedures (SOPs) supporting neuromuscular research across Canada.

The Basic Science Trainee Committee (BSTC) has developed a comprehensive set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tailored to the neuromuscular field, reflecting current best practices and expert consensus from specialists across Canada.

These SOPs provide clear, standardised guidance for laboratories, clinics, and research programs involved in neuromuscular diagnostics and testing. By making them accessible on our website, the BSTC aims to promote consistency, reliability, and quality in neuromuscular care and research nationwide. This shared resource will help align practices across institutions, support trainees in developing technical and analytical skills, and strengthen the overall quality and reproducibility of lab work across Canada.

Our SOPs

  1. Assessing Mouse Muscle Function In Vivo, In Situ, and In Vitro.  |  Oct 31, 2025
  2. Neuromuscular Junction Fluorescent Imaging  |  Oct 31, 2025
  3. In Vivo murine motor function assessments (righting reflex, mesh grip, balance beam, rota rod) | Oct 31, 2025
